Most of the time, CNHS operates at capacity due to our Animal Control contracts that require us to accept all animals found in violation of local ordinances. This means that we do not typically have space to accept owner surrendered animals. We encourage owners to look for professional assistance with behavior or medical issues to prevent rehoming an animal. If that is not an option, owners should attempt to rehome the animal themselves, but be cautious of who they allow to take ownership of their pet. Surrendering your pet to a shelter should be a last resort, as most organizations are already struggling with overcrowding.
