Established in 1967, the Central Nebraska Humane Society is still located at the original property donated by Herbert and Barbara Glover. CNHS is the largest nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization in central Nebraska. We are governed by a Board of Directors who contribute to the strategic planning and fundraising for the organization.
In 2006, through the generous support of our community, CNHS was able to expand and construct its current facility. We now have a medical suite on site and are able to spay or neuter, vaccinate, and microchip all dogs and cats prior to adoption. Currently, CNHS is contracted to provide animal control services to the City of Grand Island, Hall County, and a few of the surrounding villages. While these contracts do contribute to our overall budget, they only cover the work of Animal Control. The shelter side of our operation still relies heavily on the generous donations of the public to fund our mission. All contributions and financial support directly impact the lives of local animals and allow us to continue to advocate for the voiceless.
