How to Reclaim My Animal
My Lost Pet is at CNHS!
What should I do next?
If your lost pet makes its way to CNHS, there are a few steps you’ll need to follow to reclaim them:
You must physically come to CNHS to claim your pet within the 72 hour stray hold period
You must be 19 years or older to reclaim an animal. If you are the owner but under age, you must bring a parent/guardian to reclaim the pet on your behalf
You must provide a valid form of identification at the time of reclaim
You must provide proof of ownership of the animal you intend to reclaim. This can include but is not limited to photos of the animal, microchip information, and vet records.
You must sign the CNHS Stray Reclaim Contract and agree to its terms
There are fees associated with redeeming your pet. These fees vary depending on how often your animal has been brought to the shelter and other factors. Reclaim fees must be paid in full prior to your pet being released.
Failure to follow any step of the reclaim process will prevent your animal from being released to you. Animals may also not be released if doing so puts the owner in violation of any applicable ordinances (animal limits, prohibited species, etc)
